TORCS is a highly portable multi platform
3D car racing
simulation. It is used as ordinary car racing game, as AI racing game
and as research platform. It runs on Linux (x86, AMD64 and PPC),
FreeBSD, MacOSX and Windows. And the best: It's free... The source code
of TORCS is licensed under
the GPL ("Open Source"). You can find more informations about where to
download and how to install on the TORCS
project website.

The
'Power Smart'
Why the hell a 'Smart Car' as a racing car
for TORCS ? Well, I stumbled over Andreas
Viktorsson's 'Smart Project' diary
. He had the crazy idea to mount a Kawasaki ZZR1100 engine together
with a turbocharger into his Smart ForTwo. Power ? Two
options, depending on the set-up:
220hp and 270hp... As I will never have the funds to build or buy such
a car and more important, to get it road legal in my country, I decided
to purchase such a car for the TORCS simulator. That's it !
The rpm was build on openSUSE 10.3 and installs into '/usr/share/games/torcs/cars'. You
will find the car in the 'free' category aftrewards. If it doesn't work
on your distribution, try the .zip file above instead.
